About

I Am Here To Help

My name is Tammy Ellis. I am a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I am clinically trained as a sex therapist in a broad range of sexual health issues. I am here to help you with your sexual health-related issues. I work hard to help you feel safe, because I know that what you share is likely to be very personal, and may even feel shameful. My passion is to help people make choices regarding their sexual behavior based on their values, not on fear. NOTE: I am offering groups for women who experience sexual pain and women who experience low sexual desire! These will be evidence-based small groups with a mindfulness-based cognitive therapy approach. LOW DESIRE GROUP GOALS: 1. Learn mindfulness practices to help cultivate present-moment awareness, acceptance of whatever is present, self-compassion and reduce distress 2. Learn accurate & up-to-date information related to women's sexuality & sexual response 3. Discuss ways sexual motivation is influenced by thoughts, feelings & behaviors 4. Reflect on role of women's intimate relationships on their current sexual concerns 5. Capitalize on therapeutic benefit of group exchange & support. SEXUAL PAIN GROUP GOALS: 1. Understand & better manage pain related to sex 2. Understand how thoughts, feelings & behaviors, including those related to stress, influence sexual pain 3. To better understand the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviors so as to better cope with pain 4. Use mindfulness as a means of cultivating self-compassion, present-moment awareness, acceptance of whatever is present & reduce pain and suffering 5. To address sexual destress that follows sexual pain, 6. To capitalize on the therapeutic benefits of group exchange 7. To understand this as a first step toward managing pain.
